Canfield

Canfield City is a Mahoning County suburb with an area of 4.61 square miles located about 10 miles southwest of Youngstown. At the 2010 census, Canfield City had a population of 7,515 with 3,073 households.

A tree-lined "Village Green" sits at the heart of the New England-style village, which resembles many communities established in the days of the Connecticut Western Reserve. This town center is a venue for a wide range of community activities. Canfield's strict zoning regulations prohibit large signage and overgrown lawns, which is sure to preserve the city's charming small-town atmosphere.

In 1992 Canfield city residents, although surrounded completely by Canfield Township, voted to secede from the township. This motion created two separate governmental entities — one a municipality, the other a township. Both cooperate with each other for the mutual benefit of their citizens and share fire protection service, roads and highways, schools, parks, and other physical assets.
